In order to create high-quality aluminum profiles, making sure you have started with the right parts is essential - and roller sleeves play a pivotal role here. Indeed, roller sleeves are incredibly important to keep your aluminum profile manufacturing line operating efficiently, and as a result, we’ve outlined some of the core things you should know to help. So, without further ado, we’re looking today at a range of the different options available to help you get the perfect finish for your aluminum profiles, no matter what you might be looking for.

4 Common Types of Roller Sleeve

When it comes to roller sleeves, knowing about the different materials that are available is often helpful. However, this isn’t always easy, so it’s worth getting in touch with a dedicated team if you have any specific questions about the available materials.

Nomex

As far as roller sleeve materials go, Nomex is one of the more popular solutions, making it a great option to consider for your own aluminium profile manufacturing efforts. Simply put, Nomex roller sleeves boast excellent heat resistant properties, with a maximum working temperature of around 280 degrees Celsius, making them a great choice for use in high temperature metal working environments. In addition to this, Nomex is also a relatively strong material, while still providing a cost effective sleeve compared to some of its counterparts.

PBO

Another increasingly popular choice of roller sleeve material that you could consider is PBO, or polybenzobisoxazole, which is a type of synthetic polymer which can deal with extremely high temperatures (along with boasting superior chemical stability). In lien with this thought, if you have been looking for a heavy-duty roller sleeve material that can handle almost any level of pressure, PBO sleeves might be ideal.

Kevlar

Kevlar is one of the industry leading materials when it comes to high temperature metalworking. Indeed, this incredibly durable, reliable, and dependable material is highly effective and can operate at temperatures up to a whopping 480 degrees Celsius, making it one of the most valuable options for metal work. Most notably, Kevlar is generally considered valuable for use after fly cutting and on the run out tables, both of which are high temperature zones.

Polyester

Polyester is a great alternative to some of the more expensive options available, especially for use in finishing areas at room temperatures. Polyester is much more cost effective than Kevlar or PBO alternatives and offers good durability for long term use; however, it’s worth keeping in mind that polyester’s maximum temperature is lower, which makes it best suited for finishing applications or in moderate temperature settings.

Our own premium polyester is designed specifically for use in finishing, in particular for high-quality aluminum products with polished surfaces or electrophoretic properties. Better still, since polyester is easy to maintain and affordable to replace, you know it will last well for your brand’s requirements.
